22 Jan 2010 | | Prathna

Siddharth is an actor who uses wrong finger to play carom from childhood; only after he started practice did he realize that how all experts’ play.

Like all other games even carom has its own set of rules to follow. While preparing for Striker, Siddharth, who had to practice for hours to learn carom and become an expert. Apparently Siddharth was facing a problem while preparing for the role and the problem was that he used to hit the striker with the wrong finger.

Since he was good at the game, Chandan Arora wanted his each and every move to be accurate and so he decided to get Siddharth trained by a professional before they could start shooting for his carom sequences. To their surprise they came to know that 90% of the carom experts, including the one who was summoned in to train Siddharth actually played with the wrong finger. After undermining this fact there was no stopping to Siddharth and he ended up giving some exceptionally professional shots.

Says Siddharth, “Since childhood I used to play carom with the wrong finger but never bothered to correct it since the wrong finger always helped me play well, unfortunately while shooting for Striker, the wrong finger habit cropped up as one of the major concerns and Chandan brought in a carom expert to train me. When I sat down to play with him did I realize that most of the players play with the wrong finger... This helped me cut down on one of my biggest worries.”

Striker might not have taken off if Sid had refused to work - Chandan
22 Jan 2010 | | Prathna

"I had seen Siddharth in many of his films that were made down south. He came across as quite an impressive person. Then I saw his work in RDB (Rang De Basanti). It was later that I got to know that he was open to other Hindi films as well. I shared my thought with him about the film and he showed willingness to work on the project. The character in the film couldn’t be fictionalized...The project might not have taken off if he had refused to work. It was because of him that the film could be made.In fact we needed a person who would give in time to work on the character, the looks, and the hairstyle. He was more than willing to give, accepted challenges and showed passion for his work. It was a like a challenge to put his efforts in the right direction. He learnt all the stuff that was required out of him, for the film and he did a great job. He had to play Carom like a professional player and Siddharth happens to be a good Carom player too." Said Chandan Arora director of Striker

Striker Music Hits Bulls Eye!
22 Jan 2010 | | Prathna

Music review of Striker by BoxOfficeIndia
Striker has 8 songs with 8 different composers. The album boasts of talent like Vishal Bhardwaj, Blaaze, Amit Trivedi and Gulzar, among others. Actor Siddharth is the producer of the album and has sung too. The lyrics are tongue-in-cheek and insightful. So, be prepared for some eclectic variety. Striker has something for everyone. Cham Cham is easily an instant favourite, while the other songs might take a while to grow on you. But Striker is a ‘soundtrack’ in every sense of the word and an album for keeps. You will want to listen to it several times over. It is something people will talk about after seeing the film. All the songs capture the spirit and diverse facets of Bombay.
